Carol Ysidro, DDS

Everyone should be able to feel good about their oral health and smile confidently. Being a dentist gives me the opportunity to restore worn or broken-down smiles. The beautiful, healthy smile that I can give to someone will allow them to feel good about themselves. That smile is one that will then be passed along to many others.

As a young adult, I had two wonderful dentists I admired and looked up to. I appreciated the kindness and gentleness they showed me during my dental visits. They even encouraged me to go to dental school. To this day, I continue to remember how much I appreciated their care. I always try to make sure that the depth and sincerity of their dedication to their patients’ well-being and comfort is replicated in my own work with my patients and the welcoming environment we have fostered here.

I have a fantastic team of dental professionals. They are highly-skilled, family-oriented, and caring individuals.  We attend continuing education seminars and conferences together. The dental professional team is not only well-educated and knowledgeable in all aspects of dentistry but they are also warm and genuinely happy individuals. This is reflected in the quality of care all of us strive to deliver.

I look forward to meeting you and your family, and to giving you a beautiful healthy smile in the most gentle, conservative way.

I grew up in Wichita and moved to Derby in 1985. My husband and I have one son, a beautiful daughter-in-law, and three wonderful grandchildren. Our family also includes our precious adopted tuxedo cat, two highly energetic Australian shepherds, and two adorable alpacas.

In my spare time, I love being outdoors, hanging out with family and friends, gardening, watching all the different critters that frequent my bird feeders, and riding my Harley motorcycle.

I am very fortunate to be able to use some of what I have learned in my professional life to help others. Toward that end, I first began volunteering as a dental student, and I continue to volunteer for many dental outreach programs that provide dental services to underserved individuals.

As someone with a deep love for animals, I am also a longtime supporter of the Kansas Humane Society, American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), and LL Dog Rescue in Shawnee Mission.

I enjoy all aspects of my profession. But the joy I receive from working with patients to achieve their oral health and cosmetic dental goals means everything to me. There is nothing more exciting than when I see patients truly happy with their smile results. Working with each patient and getting to know them as a fully-rounded person allows me to learn new things every day. I am honored to develop friendships with my patients, and I am proud to provide them with the dental and oral care that they need.

As a dentist, I believe in open communication between myself and those I treat. It is essential that every patient knows they can come to me with questions and concerns and that they will be heard. I strive to make sure that each patient has the information required to make educated decisions about their dental care, and I spend time talking with them about treatment options and the positive and negative aspects of each. Working together and giving patients the knowledge that they need ensures the best outcome.

Our dental professionals have a great sense of responsibility to those we treat. We take the time to answer questions and address concerns. Patients and their families recognize immediately from the moment they step into our practice that the quality of their experience here is of paramount importance to us. Our concern for patient comfort begins in the reception area, and it continues through our treatment spaces and operatories. We are dedicated to painless dental care, using proven, leading-edge processes and techniques that guarantee that a visit to our practice is a positive experience.

I have called Wichita, KS, my home for the many years. My wife, our child, and I love our community, and we enjoy exploring all that the area has to offer. I am also an avid fan of many sports.

My love for my community compels me to offer my skills outside of work in ways that I hope will be to the benefit of its members. I am active in improving the dental awareness and health in our local community by participating in many dental outreach activities. Included among these is Give Kids a Smile, a program that offers a wide range of oral healthcare services to underserved youth. I also participate in the Kansas Mission of Mercy, which is part of the Kansas Dental Charitable Foundation and a group that provides dental care and treatment to those who might not otherwise have access to it.

Professionally, what excites me the most is restoring a patient’s oral health, whether that be to remedy a single ailed tooth or a dentition that has been neglected for years. It is incredible to see what doctors can accomplish with modern technology and surgical techniques. Missing teeth no longer means uncomfortable dentures or restorative work that requires reshaping perfectly healthy teeth for bridges; we can restore a patient’s smile with bone grafting and implants. I love seeing the results of bringing a patient’s dentition back to health in a way that would not have been possible even twenty years ago.

Because I had what may be considered a more atypical upbringing, I feel that I can relate to my patients on a more personal level. My sister and I were brought up by my grandparents in China until I was ten years old, when I moved to America to live with my parents. Because of this experience, I can appreciate my Chinese roots as well as my life in America. This experience shows me the richness that different cultures can bring into my life. I know my patients come from all walks of life, and they enrich my life by bringing their unique stories into it.

The doctor-patient relationship is special in that patients come to me trusting that I will take care of them before they even know me. I cannot stress how much that trust means to me. Trust is especially important in a patient-doctor relationship when the outcome of a procedure is not what the doctor or patient had expected. It is trust in these situations that allows the doctor and patient to work together to get the desired result. I will always do my very best to take care of my patients in return for the trust they place in me.

My educational background includes:

  • Washington University in St. Louis – Undergraduate studies in biology, with a minor in fine arts
  • University Missouri-Kansas City – Doctor of Dental Surgery
  • Wichita State University Advanced Education in General Dentistry program – received post-graduate training in periodontal surgery, endodontics, implantology, cosmetic dentistry, and full mouth reconstruction

Professional Associations

Having a variety of professional associations allows me to stay up-to-date on the latest treatments and technology used in the dental field. Not only can I remain informed, but I can learn about these new practices to provide my patients with the best possible care in every visit. Obtaining membership in these associations demonstrates my commitment to constantly increasing my education for the purpose of benefiting my patients.

My active memberships include:

  • American Dental Association
  • Kansas Dental Association
  • Academy of General Dentistry

At Home and Away From Work

I have lived in Wichita, Kansas for 2 years. My family consists of a three-year old Maltepoo, my sister, parents, grandmother, aunt, a new uncle-in-law, and a wonderful gentleman who puts a smile on my face every day. I am passionate about art, being eco-friendly, my family, and being the best doctor that I can be. When I have free time, I enjoy playing tennis, painting with oils, running, reading, and watching movies and comedic television shows.

Service to the Community

My community has done so much for me and for Dental Professionals LLC, and I love looking for ways that I can give back. I volunteer at the Wichita Children’s Home because I believe in people’s ability to overcome their circumstances. Children are special in their vulnerability and malleability, and I consider it a privilege if I can be of any help or a positive influence in a child’s life.

I also try to give back by donating time at the WSU residency from which I graduated. I also participate in the Kansas Mission of Mercy and other charitable dental health care events.

Meet Our Team
To help you feel comfortable with our office environment at Dental Professionals LLC, we have included our team’s biographies. You can then learn more about the roles of each team member and how each of us care for our patients. We look forward to providing your family with caring dentistry in Derby, Kansas.

I am glad to be part of a practice that provides the best dental treatment available to our patients and our community. It is great that we care for so many of our neighbors and friends. As the business manager for Dental Professionals LLC, I oversee all of our departments. This ensures that our office runs smoothly so that the doctors and team are able to concentrate on delivering the highest quality dental care.

Outside of work, I enjoy hotrods and motorcycle trips with my wife. I also like gatherings with family and friends, and BBQing.

I love the relationships and friendships that have developed with our amazing patients. Working with a team that has a passion for dentistry, amazing smiles, and patient care is inspiring. Our smiling patients, who tell us how happy they are with their visits, let me know we are doing a great job. I work with our team and handle Human Resources for the practice. I also work with patients, greeting and checking them in, scheduling visits, and answering questions.

When I am not working, I enjoy being with my husband, our two daughters, and two dogs. I like watching football, shopping, reading, working out, and enjoying time with family and friends.

I am usually greeting patients, updating their health information, scheduling patient appointments, posting insurance, answering the phone and sending out appointment reminders. I have been in the field of dentistry since 1998, and I started with this practice in 2017. This has allowed me to learn and grow from my experience gained working in multiple dental offices. I love that everyone here is very helpful, that they remain positive, and that they go out of their way to assist everyone.

I am married and have 4 grown children; we live happy, healthy lives! My family is my proudest accomplishment! I also have one dog named Ben. I love to ride motorcycles with my husband and travel when I get the chance. I love movies and being pampered. I am also a massage therapist, and I have a table rental business on the side that keeps me busy. I have 4 beautiful grandchildren that I immensely enjoy spending time with. Oh, yes – I can’t forget garage sales!

I am one of the first people you will meet here at Dental Professionals LLC. I coordinate patient visits and scheduling, and assist with utilization of insurance benefits as well. I have been in the dental field since 2009 and joined this team in 2017. I truly enjoy helping others, which makes it particularly enjoyable to work with doctors who are so compassionate and who truly care about each one of our patients. The whole team works so well together providing great care. My favorite part is building relationships with patients over time and seeing the improvements they make.

I am a mother of boys and two fur babies. I enjoy spending time with my family outdoors and going shopping or to the movies. And there is nothing like watching a good game of football!

I enjoy talking with and learning who our patients are outside of the office. It is fun to hear about their interests, families, plans for the future, and to share in their good news. Helping my friends develop and keep healthy smiles is rewarding. I assist our team members and doctors, ensuring that each patient has the best possible visit, every time.

I recently moved back to Derby. I have a young son, and I love traveling, going to the lake, and watching movies.

I enjoy a patient’s happy, healthy smile at the end of a visit and making sure they have the highest quality care while here. At Dental Professionals LLC, our doctors and team are passionate about oral health and great smiles. We work hard to make sure our patients have positive, pain-free visits. I assist the doctors with four-handed dentistry. I also help my coworkers with anything they need. Most importantly, I am here to help our patients and their smiles.

I have a four-year-old daughter who is my world, and she amazes me every day. My husband is a great dad. I enjoy redecorating my home, shopping, and spending time with loved ones.

Knowing that I am able to provide each of our patients with excellent care, and being able to work alongside our doctors and other dental professionals as they help our patients develop beautiful smiles is very rewarding. Some of my work involves setting up for the treatment, performing instrument sterilization, and taking X-rays. I also provide patient education and handle some of the scheduling, too. As a full-time, working mother, I appreciate how great our doctors are at working with our younger patients. They are gentle and reassuring, and kids like coming in for their appointments.

I love learning about my patients’ lives and their families. Hearing their stories and sharing some of my own creates real friendships that I treasure. I work one-on-one with patients, helping them improve their oral and overall health. While I take X-rays, evaluate for dental disease, and clean teeth, I talk with my patient. I help them understand their dental health, and together we find ways they can improve their home care. Seeing a healthy, clean smile at a recall visit makes my day!

My husband, Ryan, and I have young twins, Cayce and Layla. I am thankful to stay home and care for my kids most days while also being able to take a “day off” and work as a dental hygienist one or two days a week.

I like forming relationships with my patients while helping them reach their goal of a healthy and beautiful smile. It is fulfilling to see someone take control of their oral health and make positive changes in their life. I assess a patient’s dental and overall health, take X-rays, clean teeth, and perform treatment planning. Much of my day is spent teaching patients about the connection between a healthy mouth and body. Together, we find home-care solutions that work with their life and specific concerns.

Outside of the office, I love traveling, reading, and spending time with my son, dog, family, and friends. I enjoy being outside, whether that involves playing softball, skiing, riding bikes, hiking, or going to the lake.

I enjoy getting to know my patients. I appreciate their different needs and desires, and I adapt my care to meet their needs and goals. It is important to me to make a positive, lasting difference in each patient’s life. My true goal is to educate people on how to improve and maintain their oral and overall body health. By teaching about the connection between the two and helping patients learn to make healthy choices, I am helping them improve their lives.

When I am not at work, spending time with my husband, two teenage daughters, and our five furry family members, is my priority. I also enjoy quiet time; expressing myself through home decorating, remodeling, gardening and landscaping; and listening to music.

I work together with my patients to create a daily oral healthcare routine that optimizes their oral health because a healthy mouth is good for your body. After graduating in 2005 with a Bachelor’s of Science in dental hygiene, I practiced in the dental field for 12 years. I then started at Dental Professionals LLC in 2016. I truly enjoy building personal relationships with my patients and hearing about their families, jobs, and vacations. The entire team at Dental Professionals LLC is dedicated to serving our patients’ needs with the highest quality of care. In fact, our caring team members create a warm, comfortable, and relaxed environment for every patient.

My husband, Jeremy, and I have three children. We enjoy spending time together while traveling or playing outside. After living in Kansas City for a few years, we have become fans of the Kansas City Chiefs and the Royals, and we enjoy watching them play.

As part of my daily routine, I assess our patients’ oral health and make treatment plans for their needs. I started in the dental field in 1996 after graduating from the University of Nebraska Lincoln with a Bachelor’s of Science in dental hygiene. I started working with this office in 2014. I enjoy getting to know patients and helping them achieve a healthy, beautiful smile. I love that everyone is passionate about their work. It is a warm and friendly environment.

Aside from work, my family is my top priority. Fitness, cooking, friends, and traveling fit into my scheduled as much as possible.

I ensure that all the instruments used in procedures are clean, sterilized and prepared for use. I’m also always available to help other team members as needed. I started at Dental Professionals LLC in 2018 and am so excited to be in the dental field. I like helping maintain the flow in the office and working with such informational and helpful doctors. They always have a smile on their faces!

I am a Derby High School graduate currently attending WATC. I enjoy competitive sailing, playing guitar and singing. I also love teeth! Teeth are jewels, not tools—take care of them!
